Perot Systems is adding a new facility for business process outsourcing in Chennai in south India, citing strong business from the healthcare segment.BPO business from the healthcare segment has been relatively unaffected by the economic downturn, Manish Jain, head of corporate communications at Perot India, said. The facility is located in a special economic zone and by the rules governing these zones, it will have to work on new contracts from customers, Jain added.
The company already has three more facilities in Chennai delivering BPO services, and another in the neighboring city of Coimbatore. These BPO centers are mainly focused on the healthcare market.
The facility has been set up across 23,617 square feet on DLF IT Special Economic Zone SEZ. The initial capacity of 350 seats would be scaled upto 1,000 seats by year end and operations would commence by April this year, Perot Systems, Insurance and Business Process Solutions, Managing Director, Vardhman Jain told reporters here.
Jain said the company would invest USD 10 million to set up a new facility in Coimbatore, scheduled to start operations by April 2010. The USD ten million for Coimbatore facility would also include cost purchasing of land he said.
He said Perot Systems proposed to recruit around 500 to 1000 employees for their facilities in Chennai and Coimbatore. Currently, we have around 350 to 400 openings available he said, adding the attrition rate has come down significantly.
